2010 Nationals At Fishing Bay - August 20-22
Plans for the 76th HOD National Championship at Fishing Bay are really coming together. Fishing Bay YC last hosted the Hampton National Championship in 1948, when it was won by Lloyd Emory of FBYC. An Annapolis YC member won in 1948, and the regatta has taken 62 years to swing back to Deltaville. The date has been optimized to the third weekend in August to give folks an extra regatta weekend to qualify, and so folks can use the preceding FBYC Annual as a warm-up. Folks can leave their boats at FBYC after Ware River and then do two regattas in a row at FBYC. The HOD website has information on lodging, etc. Give Latane Montague a call if you want to stay in Urbanna (about 20 minutes away) (202) 637-6567. Rick Klein, who was the PRO for the 2003 Nationals at Ware River, and has been PRO for every WRYC Governor's Cup since then has graciously volunteered to be the PRO for our event. FBYC is also hosting the Optimist National Championship this summer which should see several hundred boats, so our regatta should be a piece of cake, and no tractors allowed!
