If you spend any time around the Hampton Class, you will quickly find there are a group of us who are quite passionate about our wooden boats.  The wooden Hampton is certainly not for every brand of sailor, but for those of us willing to put in the extra care and effort, wooden boats are still just as competitive as their fiberglass counterparts, are arguably more comfortable, and if well cared for, longer lasting. There also  remains the decades long debate over which is truly the faster boat...
